Clinical Supervision for Texas LMSWs & LPC Associates

At Simply Therapeutic Counseling, we provide structured and supportive clinical supervision for Texas LMSWs and LPC Associates. Supervision focuses on professional growth, clinical competence, accountability, and meeting Texas licensure requirements.
Texas LMSW-to-LCSW Supervision Requirements
Under Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) requirements, LMSWs pursuing LCSW licensure must complete the required supervised clinical social work experience under an approved LCSW-Supervisor.
Supervision includes:
- 3,000 hours of supervised clinical social work experience
- Completion of experience within the timeframe established by the Texas Social Work Board
- At least 100 hours of clinical supervision
- Supervision provided by a Texas-approved LCSW-S
- Individual or qualifying group supervision
- Appropriate documentation of clinical experience and supervision
- Completion of applicable licensing requirements, including the ASWB Clinical Examination, Texas Jurisprudence Examination, background check, and required application documentation
Supervision is structured to help you remain organized and intentional throughout the licensure process while strengthening your clinical skills.
Texas LPC Associate-to-LPC Supervision Requirements
Texas LPC Associates must practice under the supervision of a Board-approved LPC Supervisor while completing their post-graduate supervised experience.
Current Texas requirements include:
- 3,000 hours of supervised experience
- At least 1,500 hours of direct client counseling
- Experience completed over no fewer than 18 months
- At least 4 hours of direct supervision each month
- Supervision may be provided individually or in a group setting
- Individual supervision may include up to two Associates
- Group supervision consists of three or more Associates
- No more than 50% of total supervision hours may be completed through group supervision
- A Supervisory Agreement Form must be established with the Board-approved LPC Supervisor before supervision begins
- Supervised experience must be documented for submission when applying to upgrade to full LPC status
- Applicable licensing requirements, including the Texas LPC Jurisprudence Examination, must also be completed
LPC Associates may have up to two approved supervisors at the same time.
